|The Stillwell Collection
Erle Stillwell was a local architect whose work spanned six decades from 1912 to 1971. Stillwell designed hundreds of buildings including; houses, school, theaters, churches and commercial buildings. His buildings can be found throughout
the southeast US.
The Library has over 4000 original architectural drawings created by Erle Stillwell during his career. In addition, his personal library of more than 400 books on all aspects of architecture is housed in the library.

Many of the houses and buildings we drive past daily in Hendersonville are included in the book. It is fascinating to read the stories behind them. Softcover copies of the book are for sale at the Main Library Reference Desk for $10.
